Terms of use
These are deliberately short, because the rules that actually govern day to day behaviour are set out in the community guidelines.
1. What this site is
A publication and a discussion community. It reports on the actions of public bodies using published documents. It is not a law firm, an advice service, a regulator or a route to any department.
2. Not advice
Nothing here is legal, financial, tax or welfare advice, and nothing here creates a professional relationship. Decisions about your own case should be taken with a qualified adviser. See where to get real help.
3. Your account
You are responsible for what is posted from your account and for keeping your password secure. One person, one account. We may suspend an account that breaks the community rules.
4. What you post
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it as part of the site. You confirm you have the right to post it.
Do not post:
- Anything unlawful, or that identifies a child.
- Anything that infringes someone else’s copyright.
- Personal data about another person without a lawful basis.
- Abuse or harassment directed at another user.
- Advice that amounts to committing fraud or tax evasion.
5. Moderation
We can remove content and suspend accounts. Removals are logged and you can ask why. We are not obliged to host anything.
6. Our content
Editorial text is released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Reuse it with attribution and a link. This does not extend to the wordmark, or to any third-party material quoted under fair dealing.
7. External links
We link to primary sources on other websites. We are not responsible for their content and a link is not an endorsement.
8. Liability
The site is provided as it is. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the site.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
